James W. (Jim) Probus attended Eastern New Mexico University and has been in the insurance industry since 1962. Jim was a Claims Representative for ten years with State Auto Insurance Company.

In September 1975 he opened Probus Insurance Agency. The primary focus of the business has been medical insurance. In 1995 he was appointed a Long Term Care Specialist by Fortis Insurance Company.

He holds the designations of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) since 1984 and Associate in Claims (AIC) since 1968. He has served on the Associate National Faculty for the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. In that position he taught insurance courses in Long Term Care, Medicare Supplements, Medicare and Medicaid to insurance agents nationwide.
